Phenomenological model of creep of dental amalgam

Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 1983
SummaryEarlier work revealed that creep of a particular dental amalgam can be described by the model F(t)=F0 exp (t/t0)m. Here F(t) is the creep compliance at time t, whereas F0, t0 and m are constants of the model. In the previous study only three alloys were used. It was the aim of this study to investigate the factor alloy more thoroughly.

An extension of a phenomenological model for dental composites

Dental Materials, 1999
The aims of this study are firstly to demonstrate the limitations of a phenomenological model proposed for filler/resin dental composites, and secondly, to modify the model to accommodate these limitations.A power-law rule of mixtures (ROM) is established by a simple modification of the elastic contact mechanics.

A laboratory model for dental radiographic studies

Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 1995
summary Though a number of laboratory models have been developed to study the effects of X‐ray geometry on the appearance and relative positions of anatomical landmarks, such as the amelocemental junction and alveolar crest, many have failed to take into account the three‐dimensional nature of the alveolus and its spatial relationships with the ...

Interactive Tooth Segmentation of Dental Models

2005 IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology 27th Annual Conference, 2005
The accurate segmentation of the teeth from the triangle mesh is an important step in computer-aided orthodontic. Because teeth come in different shapes and their arrangements vary substantially from one individual to another, tooth segmentation is difficult. This paper proposes a new method to accurately segment the teeth interactively.

Videotape Modeling of the Child Dental Patient

Journal of Dental Research, 1976
One week before their first dental visit, 36-to 60-month-old children were shown a videotape to model their behavior in the dental situation. The behavior was then rated for three visits. The children who had been modeled did not behave significantly better than either children who had no previous contact with the dental setting or children who had ...

Global biomechanical model for dental implants

Journal of Biomechanics, 2011
The osseointegration of titanium dental implants is a complex process and there is a need for systematization of the factors influencing anchoring of implant. A common way of analyzing the strength of the fixation in bone is by measuring the torque required to remove the implants after healing.

Developments in dental plaque pH modelling

Journal of Dentistry, 2005
The objectives of this review were to give a comprehensive account of the methods used to determine dental plaque pH over the last 50 years, to review how these methods have been used in dental cariology research and to give an update as to how dental plaque pH studies might be developed in the future.Published, referred papers and abstracts of ...

A computer program for the analysis of dental models

Computer Programs in Biomedicine, 1979
This paper presents the details and logic of a Fortran computer program which carries out routine clinical analysis of dental models resulting from impressions of the teeth and related structures, which are subsequently cast in plaster of Paris. The program is primarily intended for use by the orthodontist who is engaged in research or clinical ...

A user-oriented dental care model

Computers in Biology and Medicine, 1978
Abstract This paper discusses a computer oriented model of dental programs. The two major concepts incorporated into the model are the personnel involved in providing care and the type of care being provided. For user specified categories of service and various personnel configurations the model estimates personnel requirements, in terms of time and ...

Dental anxiety ‐ the development of a measurement model

Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica, 1986
ABSTRACT— A more detailed measurement instrument for dental anxiety has been developed. To investigate the dimensionability of the response, two instruments were administered to 452 persons. The first set of items (33) concerned stimuli which might prove fearsome to patients. Some of these were dental specific, others were not.
