Implant-supported fixed complete dental prostheses have been associated with a high implant success rate in long-term studies. However, they have also been associated with a high frequency of prosthetic complications. The most frequent and primary prosthetic complication has been the fracture or wear of the occlusal surface of acrylic resin teeth that ...

Implant-Supported Prosthesis Misalignment Related to the Dental Arch: A 14-Year Clinical Follow-up
Journal of Oral Implantology, 2012The purpose of this study was to warn the dental community about a possible problem in function with partial implant–supported prostheses used for long periods. The misalignment between natural teeth and the implant-supported prosthesis on teeth 11 and 12, observed in a 14-year clinical follow-up, illustrates the fact.

[Dental feats 1. An implant-supported orbital prosthesis after ablative tumor surgery].
Nederlands tijdschrift voor tandheelkunde, 2003Extraoral implants are used with increasing frequency, in order to provide retention for facial prostheses. Facial prostheses can replace lost extraoral hard and soft tissues using acrylic or silicone materials. The surgeon, maxillofacial prosthodontist and dental technician are facing particular treatment considerations and practical problems. Some of

ABSTRACT Introduction Loss of hallux leads to aesthetic deficit and functional loss, with active push-off, weight-bearing ability, and pronation all being affected. Rehabilitation can be surgical or prosthetic; however, surgical alternatives can be unpredictable in terms of aesthetics and is not cost-effective ...

The metal-acrylic implant supported fixed dental prosthesis (MAISFDP) is the most commonly reported fixed implant prosthesis used to treat edentulism. Although favorable long-term implant and prosthetic survival rates have been demonstrated, complications involving the material such as veneer fracture can occur at a high rate.
