Simulated Self‐Assessment and Error Correction in Preclinical Prosthodontics: Insights From 3D‐Printed Models

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Dental Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Developing self‐assessment and defect correction skills is essential for dental students to ensure high‐quality clinical practice. However, these skills are often insufficiently addressed in dental education. This study evaluates students' ability to assess and correct crown preparation defects through a structured exercise ...

A Smart Dental Prosthesis to Restore Dental Proprioceptivity

2020 XXXV Conference on Design of Circuits and Integrated Systems (DCIS), 2020
Natural teeth eventually fall out as one becomes older, making it more difficult chewing, speaking and get a reference plane for the body postural equilibrium. To minimize the problem, the missing teeth are eventually replaced by implants that restore the referred functions but miss the sensing of the applied force.

Identification of removable dental prosthesis

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1986
I dentification marks are needed on removable dental prostheses to facilitate the return of dentures that are lost or misplaced, as occurs frequently in hospitals, nursing homes, and other long-term care institutions. Identification is also important for forensic purposes, particularly if the wearer is totally edentulous.

Control of Dental Prosthesis System With Microcontroller

Journal of Medical Systems, 2000
In this study, a microcontroller-based electronic circuit was designed and implemented for dental prosthesis curing system. Heater, compressor and valve were controlled by 8-bit PIC16C64 microcontroller which is programmed using MPASM package. The temperature and time were controlled automatically by preset values which were inputted from keyboard ...

Stress analysis in dental prosthesis

Computational Materials Science, 2010
Dental implant has been used and studied for the replacement of missing teeth for many years. It has been well known that the success of dental implant is heavily dependent on initial stability and long-term osseointegration due to optimal stress distribution in the surrounding bones.

Interim Prosthesis Options for Dental Implants

Journal of Prosthodontics, 2016
AbstractDental implants have become a popular treatment modality for replacing missing teeth. In this regard, the importance of restoring patients with function during the implant healing period has grown in recent decades. Esthetic concerns, especially in the anterior region of the maxilla, should also be considered until the definitive restoration is

Dental prosthesis as an unsuspected foreign body

Annals of Emergency Medicine, 1984
Ingested or aspirated dental prostheses may cause dysphagia and respiratory obstructions. We present the case of a patient with dementia who had a dental prosthesis lodged in his hypopharynx. This patient had routine radiologic studies and diagnostic scans to rule out primary and metastatic disease, was placed on total parenteral nutrition, and ...

Chronic cadmium intoxication caused by a dental prosthesis

Zeitschrift fr Rechtsmedizin, 1990
We present a case of chronic cadmium intoxication caused by a gold dental prosthesis. The first symptoms of the disease appeared 2 years after insertion and gradually intensified over the next 3 years. Analysis of blood and urine samples, as well as parts of the prosthesis, revealed an excessive concentration of cadmium.
