Treatment of peri‐implantitis with diode laser or mucosal flap surgery: A clinical randomized controlled trial

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Peri‐implantitis poses a major challenge as contemporary nonsurgical treatments show dissatisfactory results and mucosal flap surgery is often needed. Diode lasers can remove granulation tissue and submucosal bacteria, and if it achieves similar clinical results, then it could be used as a less invasive first approach.

Diversity and random forest models of oral microbiomes in periodontal health using publicly available data

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Evidence on the 16S metabarcoding of supragingival, subgingival, and salivary microbiomes in periodontal health remains limited. We aimed to analyze the diversity and potential of machine‐learning models of supragingival, subgingival, and salivary microbiomes in periodontal health. Methods A total of 848 samples (supragingival = 210;

Titanium migration and bone response in loaded osseointegrated implants: ESEM‐EDX analysis in Macaca fascicularis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Titanium nanoparticle (TP) migration into peri‐implant bone may influence osseointegration. It remains unclear how loading protocols may affect TP distribution. This study aimed to detect TP in the bone around implants undergoing different loading protocols in Macaca fascicularis.

Hereditary angioedema as a cause of recurrent abdominal pain in a pediatric patient with Crohn's disease

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Hereditary angioedema (HAE) is a rare genetic condition caused by deficient or dysfunctional C1 inhibitor protein (C1INH) resulting in episodic angioedema of the skin, upper airway, and gastrointestinal tract. HAE most often presents within the first two decades of life and may cause severe abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, and emesis, making ...

Impact of Spread Through Air Spaces (STAS) on Recurrence and Surgical Trends in Stage I Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer: A Real‐World Cohort Study

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most common form of lung cancer, which remains a leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide. Early detection, particularly at Stage I, is critical for improving survival outcomes. Low‐dose computed tomography (LDCT) has increased the detection of small asymptomatic tumors, resulting in an earlier ...
