10-year practice-based evaluation of ceramic and direct composite veneers.

Dental Materials, 2022
OBJECTIVES This 10-year practice-based study aimed to compare survival and success of direct resin composite and ceramic veneers placed in a private dental practice, between January 2008 and March 2014.

A new dental Pd−Co alloy for ceramic veneering

Dental Materials, 1987
Abstract The properties of an alloy with 65% Pd, 30% Co and 5% Ga have been investigated with consideration to the requirements of a ceramic fusing alloy. The composition of the alloy was at the outset chosen because of a reasonably low melting point of 1200°C. The mechanical properties were found to be satisfactory (σ 0.2 ≈ 530 MPa, total elongation

Preparations for porcelain laminate veneers in general dental practice

British Dental Journal, 1998
To investigate variations in preparations for porcelain laminate veneers (PLVs) in general dental practice.Laboratory-based retrospective analysis of dies for PLVs.General dental practice in England and Wales (1994).A sample (95 cases) of laboratory models from general dental practice featuring preparations for PLVs was randomly selected from a full ...

Mechanical Properties of Dental Porcelain Veneers on Indentation Technique

Key Engineering Materials, 2004
In this work, mechanical properties of dental porcelain veneers on NiCrMo substrates were experimentally and numerically investigated using an indentation technique. The indentation technique was applied to porcelain veneers using a diamond indenter. The NiCrMo substrate and ceramic veneers were assumed to be homogeneous, isotropic and infinite bodies.

Thermally induced fracture for core-veneered dental ceramic structures

Acta Biomaterialia, 2013
Effective and reliable clinical uses of dental ceramics necessitate an insightful analysis of the fracture behaviour under critical conditions. To better understand failure characteristics of porcelain veneered to zirconia core ceramic structures, thermally induced cracking during the cooling phase of fabrication is studied here by using the extended ...

Tribological behaviour of unveneered and veneered lithium disilicate dental material

Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials, 2016
The friction and wear behaviour of a lithium disilicate dental ceramic against natural dental enamel is studied, including the effect of the presence of a fluorapatite veneering upon the tribological properties of the material. The tribological behaviour was assessed using reciprocating pin-on-plate test configuration, at pH 3 and pH 7.

An in Vitro Wear Investigation of Dental Ceramic Porcelain Veneers

Key Engineering Materials, 2004
In this study, an in vitro wear behaviour of dental ceramic porcelain veneers was investigated. The ceramic veneers were fabricated on NiCrMo substrate through glazing method. Surface morphology of the veneers was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Direct versus indirect veneer restorations for intrinsic dental stains

2004
Patients with discoloured teeth frequently present to the dentist requesting restorations designed to improve their appearance. For teeth that are sound, this might include the use of a veneer restoration. The veneer acts as a thin layer of a material covering the labial surface of a tooth and can be applied directly to the tooth, or by using indirect ...
