We proposed a method based on the piezoelectric effect and fabricated an implant abutment on the basis of piezoelectric ceramic. Under physiological occlusal pressure, the oral motion‐powered smart dental implant abutments interacted with water and oxygen, promoting the formation of reactive oxygen species and achieving a synergistic and highly ...

Tooth wear and tertiary crowding: a 13-year cohort study in Amazon Indigenous populations
Background Tooth wear is an important mechanism for reducing dental dimensions and, consequently, dental crowding. The objective of this cohort study was to examine the relation of tooth wear, adjusted for covariates (age, tooth loss, arch perimeter and ...

Mammalian dental function and wear: A review
This paper presents a brief synopsis of work on relationships between mammalian tooth form and function, and considers the role of dental wear in studies of mammal teeth. Mammalian teeth function both as guides for chewing and as tools for initiating and

The inter-relationship between dietary and environmental properties and tooth wear: comparisons of mesowear, molar wear rate, and hypsodonty index of extant Sika deer populations. [PDF]
In reference to the evolutionary trend of increasing cheek tooth height in herbivorous ungulates, the causes of dental abrasion have long been debated. Interspecific comparisons of extant ungulates have revealed that both phytoliths in grass and external

Wear mechanisms of thin dental composites
ObjectiveIn patients with severe wear, the performance of restorative materials is challenging, especially in load-bearing thin restorations. In this study, we aimed to investigate the wear rate in thin-layered restoration (1.5 mm) compared to more bulky restorations (3 mm), where less deformation and stress within the material are expected.MethodsThe ...

Wear of aged dental composites [PDF]
Abstract Surface morphology and wear characteristics of five dental composites subjected to accelerated aging were investigated. Aging conditions caused degradation of the surface as evidenced by the formation of microcracks and the exposure and loss of filler particles. Wear parameters such as track width, transition load and mode of surface failure

A hybrid biomechanical–electromagnetic energy‐harvesting e‐skin is developed using a gelatin‐based outer matrix with a zwitterionic conductive inner layer. The e‐skin autonomously generates stable electrical stimulation from daily body motion and ambient electronics, enabling significantly enhanced wound healing bothin vitro and in vivo.

ABSTRACT Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) is defined as the presence of joint contractures affecting at least two body regions at birth. Three different ERGIC1 variants have been reported in individuals with AMC. Here, we report on a 16‐year‐old male with a homozygous ERGIC1 c.250+1G>A variant that was classified as a variant of uncertain ...
