Pathogenesis of dentin hypersensitivity

Aesthetics and Patient‐Reported Outcomes in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry: Consensus Report
ABSTRACT Background Aesthetics and patient‐reported experiences (PREs) and outcomes (PROs) influence treatment choices, but have been largely overlooked in periodontology and implant dentistry. This consensus conference evaluated these factors by focusing on gingival recession defects (GRDs), immediate or early/delayed implant placement and peri ...

Drug hypersensitivity caused by alteration of the MHC-presented self-peptide repertoire [PDF]
Idiosyncratic adverse drug reactions are unpredictable, dose independent and potentially life threatening; this makes them a major factor contributing to the cost and uncertainty of drug development. Clinical data suggest that many such reactions involve immune mechanisms, and genetic association studies have identified strong linkage between drug ...

The benefits of structural disorder in natural cellular solids [PDF]
Structural cellular materials in nature, such as wood, trabecular bone, corals, and dentin combine complex biological functions with structural roles, such as skeletal support and impact protection1,2. They feature complex structural hierarchies from nano- to macroscale that enable optimization of both strength and toughness (flaw tolerance ...

Nonlinear Response With Dichotomous Noise [PDF]
Dichotomous noise appears in a wide variety of physical and mathematical models. It has escaped attention that the standard results for the long time properties cannot be applied when unstable fixed points are crossed in the asymptotic regime. We show how calculations have to be modified to deal with these cases and present as a first application full ...

ABSTRACT Objectives This case report describes a digital workflow that integrates restorative and surgical planning through the design and fabrication of a multifunctional guide to optimize outcomes in the treatment of combined lesions. Clinical Considerations Gingival recessions frequently occur alongside non‐carious cervical lesions (NCCLs), forming ...

Realizing the quantum baker's map on an NMR quantum computer [PDF]
By numerically simulating an implementation of the quantum baker's map on a 3-qubit NMR quantum computer based on the molecule trichloroethylene, we demonstrate the feasibility of quantum chaos experiments on present-day quantum computers. We give detailed descriptions of proposed experiments that investigate (a) the rate of entropy increase due to ...

Scales for pain assessment in cervical dentin hypersensitivity: a comparative study
Background Currently, different pain scales are used extensively to measure clinical pain, especially in dental practice. Objective This study aims to compare pain scales used in clinical research and dental practice, identifying the easiest to ...

IONTOPHORESIS ON HYPERSENSITIVE DENTINE
Hypersensitivity of dentine is a common problem and may occur in a specific tooth, in several teeth, or in one area of the mouth and with various intensity of pain. The most accepted theory related to dentinal hypersensitivity is the hydrodynamic theory. This paper will discuss the iontophoresis with fluoride to overcome the problem of hypersensitivity.
