Assessment of the apical transportation and quantity of root canal dentin removed using different new rotary file systems: An original study

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences, 2023
Introduction: The rotary systems have found a common application in the clinical practice for the endodontic therapies. Hence, we compared three recent endodontic systems for the comparison of the dentine removal and the apical transportation ...

Comparing apples and oranges: Why infant bone collagen may not reflect dietary intake in the same way as dentine collagen

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Physical Anthropology, 2018
Objectives Recent developments in incremental dentine analysis allowing increased temporal resolution for tissues formed during the first 1,000 days of life have cast doubt on the veracity of weaning studies using bone collagen carbon (δ13C) and nitrogen

Age determination methods in harbour seals (Phoca vitulina) with a review of methods applicable to carnivores

open access: yesNAMMCO Scientific Publications, 2010
The development of age determination methods in marine mammals is reviewed with particular reference to the use of teeth Growth Layer Groups (GLGs) formed in the dentine and cement of carnivores.

Dentine biomarkers of prenatal and early childhood exposure to manganese, zinc and lead and childhood behavior.

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2018
BACKGROUND Metal exposure alters neurodevelopmental outcomes; little is known about critical windows of susceptibility when exposure exerts the strongest effect.

The dynamic interplay of dietary acid pH and concentration during early-stage human enamel and dentine erosion

open access: yesFrontiers in Dental Medicine, 2022
Dental erosion continues to be a significant global health concern affecting nearly 30% of adults worldwide. With increasing soft drink consumption predominantly driving its prevalence, strategies for prevention and control are often implemented when ...

Intraspecific variation in M1 enamel development in modern humans: implications for human evolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The timing and sequence of enamel development, as well as enamel thickness, was documented for individual cusps (protoconid, hypoconid, metaconid, entoconid) in 15 unworn permanent lower first molars (M1s) from a sample of modern human juveniles.

Reproductive life histories: can incremental dentine isotope analysis identify pubertal growth, pregnancy and lactation?

open access: yesAnnals of Human Biology, 2022
Background There are few reliable osteological indicators to detect parity or infer puberty in skeletal remains. Nitrogen (δ15N) and stable carbon (δ13C) isotope ratios in human tissues can be affected by metabolically unbalanced states engendered by ...

Micro and Nanostructural Diversity of Lizard Osteoderm Capping Tissue in Relation to Mechanical Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that lizard osteoderm capping tissue is a hyper‐mineralized hydroxyapatite layer consistently covering the superficial osteoderm surface in those species studied here, yet it varies greatly in morphology, nanostructure, and mechanical performance across species.
