Biological clocks and incremental growth line formation in dentine

open access: yes, 2020
Dentine‐ and enamel‐forming cells secrete matrix in consistent rhythmic phases, resulting in the formation of successive microscopic growth lines inside tooth crowns and roots. Experimental studies of various mammals have proven that these lines are laid

Artificial intelligence for detection and segmentation of accessory root canals in endodontic imaging: A systematic review

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Oral Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Accessory root canal anatomy, including second mesiobuccal (MB2) and middle mesial canals (MMC), is difficult to identify and may compromise endodontic outcomes when missed, supporting artificial intelligence (AI)‐based diagnostic tools. This systematic review (CRD420261415943) included studies evaluating AI models for accessory canal or root ...

Effect of chitosan‐containing desensitizers applied prior to bleaching on the physical properties of enamel

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Oral Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract This in vitro study evaluated the effects of adding chitosan (Chi) to desensitizing agents applied before dental bleaching on enamel properties. Bovine enamel specimens were allocated to seven groups (n = 12): no treatment (negative control), 2% NaF (positive control), 2% NaF + 2% Chi, 2% NaF + 5% Chi, 2% NaF + 5% KNO3, 2% NaF + 5% KNO3 + 2 ...

The effect of repeated firing on hardness and elasticity of fully crystallized computer‐aided design/computer‐aided manufacturing lithium disilicate ceramics

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Oral Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate the hardness and elastic properties of various computer‐aided design (CAD)/computer‐aided manufacturing lithium disilicate ceramics, including IPS e.max CAD, GC Initial LiSi Block and CEREC Tessera and to assess the impact of repeated firings on these characteristics.

Using grape seed extract to reduce erosive potential of drinks

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Oral Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract The aim of this study was to verify whether supplementation of grape seed extract (GSE) to different erosive beverages reduces their erosive potential on dentine in vitro. One‐hundred dentine specimens were randomly assigned to 5 groups (n = 20/group): control‐deionized water, 1%‐citric acid, Red Bull, Coca‐Cola, and Powerade.
