An attachment for overlay dentures

We are attempting to transfer some of the occlusal forces from an overlay denture through the periodontal ligament to the bone and, at the same time, provide a reasonable amount of retention for the overlay denture.

The use of natural teeth in overlay dentures
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1975A method has been described for the construction of tooth-supported dentures where the natural tooth was utilized and the acrylic resin for the denture base processed directly to the prepared cast. Based on the 112 dentures that were made, this technique is economical, provides support and stabilization, and has full patient acceptance.
