Overdenture abutments for fixed partial dentures

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2000
Despite universal acceptance for retaining endodontically treated and filled roots for vertical support of removable prostheses, there is little evidence for the use of overdenture abutments with fixed prostheses. This article presents a review of clinical situations for using these teeth to support fixed partial dentures.

A temporary fixed partial denture

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1970

Nonrigid Connectors for Fixed Partial Dentures

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1973
Because of physiologic tooth movement, arch position of the abutments, and the retentive capacity of the retainers, a nonrigid connector may be preferred in the fabrication of a five-unit pier-abutment fixed partial denture. In this prosthesis, the movement of the nonrigid connector is enough to prevent the middle abutment from serving as a fulcrum ...

A procedure for fitting a fixed partial denture to an existing removable partial denture

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2004
An indirect technique for fitting a new cast gold crown or fixed partial denture (FPD) to an existing removable partial denture (RPD) is presented. This method uses an acrylic resin coping made on a definitive cast fit directly to the patient's RPD intraorally, with the new FPD subsequently completed on the cast. The patient does not have to relinquish

The mandibular posterior fixed partial denture

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1977
Absence of a mandibular posterior tooth, particularly the first molar, is the basic common denominator in a wide range of dental disorders. Despite their awareness of this fact, many dentists are deterred from the routine construction of mandibular posterior fixed partial dentures because of several technical difficulties.

To compensate for the limited shear strength of the adhesive layer, the Jixed partial denture is occlusally supported by the abutment ...

Objectives of a fixed partial denture

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1961
Abstract In this discussion, an attempt has been made to point out the objectives of a fixed partial denture.
