Schematizing Rainfall Events with Multivariate Depth-Duration Dependence

Proceeding of the 33rd European Safety and Reliability Conference, 2023
Accurately modelling rainfall events is crucial for flood risk assessment and stormwater infrastructure design. However, transforming statistical characteristics of events into relevant rainfall patterns is challenging due to the natural variability of rainfall.

Spatial dependence of extreme rainfall

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2017
This study aims to model the spatial extreme daily rainfall process using the max-stable model. The max-stable model is used to capture the dependence structure of spatial properties of extreme rainfall. Three models from max-stable are considered namely Smith, Schlather and Brown-Resnick models. The methods are applied on 12 selected rainfall stations

Rainfall Intensity-Dependent Infiltration Rates on Rangeland Rainfall Simulator Plots

Transactions of the ASABE, 2008
Most implementations of infiltration equations with rainfall-runoff models use a hydraulic conductivity parameter that is constant for a given rainfall event. However, plot data from rainfall simulator experiments and natural rainfall events have shown that infiltration rates can increase with increasing rainfall rate instead of decreasing with time or

Assessing spatially dependent errors in radar rainfall estimates for rainfall-runoff simulation

Stochastic Environmental Research and Risk Assessment, 2016
Weather radar been widely employed to measure precipitation and to predict flood risks. However, it is still not considered accurate enough because of radar errors. Most previous studies have focused primarily on removing errors from the radar data. Therefore, in the current study, we examined the effects of radar rainfall errors on rainfall-runoff ...

Dependence of rainfall interception on drop size – a comment

Journal of Hydrology, 1999
In a series of three articles Calder, Hall and colleagues have recently presented an extension of Calder’s original stochastic model of rainfall interception. In their model, the dependence of rainfall interception on raindrop size is explicitly taken into account.
