Back to Dakar: Decolonizing international political economy through dependency theory [PDF]
Whereas the field of International Political Economy (IPE) included a diversity of voices at its outset, histories of the field tend to marginalize certain contributions - particularly those from the Global South. The endeavor to decolonize IPE offers an

Probability as a Theory Dependent Concept
Synthese, 1999Objectivists, we are told, explain probabilities in terms of events (Kolmogorov) or propensities (Popper), while on the other hand subjectivists refer to hypotheses (Keynes, Carnap) or degrees of belief (Ramsay, de Finetti). The aim of this paper is to unite the two facets, the objective and the subjective, in one single description: theory dependent ...

A new model to evaluate dependencies in data mining problems is presented and discussed. The well-known concept of the association rule is replaced by the new definition of dependence value, which is a single real number uniquely associated with a given itemset.

Set theories are traditionally based on first-order logic. We show that in a constructive setting, basing a set theory on a dependent logic yields many benefits. To this end, we introduce a dependent impredicative constructive set theory which we call IZFD.

On Decomposition Theory: Generalized Dependence
IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 1981Although system decomposition is a fundamental tool of systems theory, no theory exists that unifies its many manifestations. The beginnings of such a theory are proposed here. The goal of this theory is to understand the structure of decompositions of large complex systems. In particular, it is to uncover those structural features that are implicit in
