Fermented Citrus as a Functional Food Matrix: Evaluating Probiotic, Prebiotic, and Postbiotic Potential

open access: yesAgriFood: Journal of Agricultural Products for Food, EarlyView.
Fermented citrus transforms bioactive compounds into metabolites with probiotic and prebiotic properties, enhancing gut health, immunity, and metabolic balance. This review highlights fermentation's role in developing sustainable, health‐promoting functional foods while addressing challenges in process optimization, sensory quality, and commercial ...

A Circular and Tacticity‐Independent Crystalline Mono‐Substituted Nylon‐6 Platform: Unexpected Large Positional Effects on Crystallizability and Performance

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Methyl substitution positions on the nylon‐6 backbone markedly affect crystallizability, thermomechanical properties, and recyclability of the resulting atactic nylon‐6 variants. While γ‐methyl substitution gives an amorphous nylon, all other four methyl‐substitution positions (α, β, δ, and ε) afford, unexpectedly, crystalline nylons, showing tacticity‐

Computational study of bacterial depolymerization process of xenobiotic polymer

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
This study shows an efficient applicability of computational techniques to analyses of microbial depolymerisation process. Microorganisms were cultivated in a culture media in which a polymer was a sole carbon source, and weight distributions before and ...

Adversarial Erasing Enhanced Multiple Instance Learning (siMILe): Discriminative Identification of Oligomeric Protein Structures in Single Molecule Localization Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Hallgrimson et al. introduce a machine learning algorithm, siMILe, that takes features of single‐molecule localization microscopy localization clusters (e.g., size and sphericity) and finds the clusters that are associated with certain cell conditions (such as differential protein expression or drug treatment).

Metal‐free Hydrogen Generation from Seawater and Silicon Waste: A Circular Approach

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Hydrogen was rapidly generated directly from untreated seawater and polymeric Si waste without any transition metal catalyst. The in situ generated polymeric cross‐linked Si resin was completely depolymerized under mild conditions into chloro‐silane monomers.

Stem cell–based therapies for type 1 diabetes: Progress in differentiation, clinical translation, and immune protection

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Directed differentiation of pluripotent stem cells into functional pancreatic β cells have emerged as a promising strategy for the radical treatment of type 1 diabetes, with preclinical and early clinical evidence demonstrating reversal of hyperglycemia and insulin independence.

Oxidative Depolymerisation of Kraft Lignin: From Fabrication of Multi‐Metal‐Modified Electrodes For Vanillin Electrogeneration via Pulse Electrolysis To High‐Throughput Screening of Multi‐Metal Composites

open access: yesChemElectroChem
The production of green hydrogen may be greatly aided by the use of an alternative anode reaction replacing oxygen evolution to increase energy efficiency and concomitantly generate value‐added products.

Non-isothermal depolymerisation kinetics of poly(ethylene oxide) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The depolymerisation of low molecular weight poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) under mild conditions was studied using a linear temperature ramped non-isothermal technique and the results compared with those obtained from a conventional isothermal technique ...
