Possible models for risk-based contributions to EU Deposit Guarantee Schemes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
JRC has investigated potential risk-based models for computing contributions of Deposit Guarantee Scheme (DGS) and assessed their potential impact across Member States. The report illustrates three possible approaches for calculating contributions on the

DEVELOPMENT OF DEPOSITS GUARANTEE IN THE BANKING SYSTEM OF MOLDOVA [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the University of Craiova: Economic Sciences Series, 2017
Money kept in house versus money deposited in the bank is a dilemma arising primarily out of fear of losing. To mitigate these risks and to enhance confidence in the banking system, the authorities propose to increas the deposit guarantee ceiling ...

Europejska unia bankowa – nowy wymiar ryzyka systemowego

open access: yesProblemy Zarządzania, 2013
The article presents the impact of the changes to the concept of the banking supervision in the European Union, including the proposed banking union, on the level of systemic risk in the Community banking system.

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Taxes, banks and financial stability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this note, a new concept for a European deposit guarantee scheme is proposed, which takes account of the strong political reservations against a mutualization of the liability for bank deposits.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

The Boundaries of Household Deposit Stability – Regulatory Assessment

open access: yesProblemy Zarządzania, 2017
This paper presents the problem of regulatory thresholds of household deposit stability in 15 euro area countries. Its aim is to confront the adopted solutions with proposals of the European Banking Authority and identify the areas which need re ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.
