The influence of deposit-feeding organisms on sediment stability and community trophic structure

Journal of Marine Research, 2020
Deposit-feeding and suspension-feeding benthos in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, show marked spatial separation; suspension feeders are largely confined to sandy or firm mud bottoms while deposit feeders attain high densities on soft muddy substrata.

Energy deposition in Fullerene-type nano-structures

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1999
We consider the energy deposition characteristics of two types of nano-structures with Fullerene-type chemical structure, namely Fullerene spheres and nano-tubes. We make the assumption that these systems can be treated as jellium shells. In the dipole approximation, we find the two systems behave with remarkable similarity.

Structure of Vapour-deposited Carbon

Nature, 1961
ALTHOUGH considerable information is available in the published literature on the effect of temperature and pressure of deposition on the microstructure and density of vapour-deposited carbon, only little has been reported on the pyrolytic graphite formed under these conditions from the crystallographic point of view.

Substrate, Surface Finish and Flow Rate Influences upon Calcareous Deposit Structure and Properties

Corrosion, 1990
Experiments have been performed where 1018, A710, A537 and HY80 steel specimens of surface finish corresponding to #120, 320, 600 and 1500 polishing were polarized potentiostatically in seawater at -900 mv (SCE).

Deposit Insurance

Maintaining Financial Stability in Times of Risk and Uncertainty, 2019
Deposit insurance is intended for providing security to depositors from the standpoint of averting bank runs. It is crucial for nations to examine their institutional environment, banking structure, and regulatory framework before insuring deposits in ...

Structure of Chemically Deposited Nickel

Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 1957
An analysis was made of the structure of the Ni deposit produced by the catalytic Ni reduction process. X‐ray and electron diffraction revealed that the Ni deposit was an amorphous solid. The structure appeared to be unrelated to and independent of the nature of the substrate and thickness of the deposit.Metallographic examination revealed a dense ...

Atypical Structured Glomerular Deposits: An Immunohistochemical Study

American Journal of Nephrology, 1991
Atypical structured glomerular deposits were identified in sub-epithelial, sub-endothelial and mesangial areas in biopsy tissue from a female, aged 33, who presented with anaemia and was found to have proteinuria and microscopic haematuria. Histological examination showed that the deposits were periodic acid Schiff positive and silver negative whilst ...

Dual Lithiophilic Structure for Uniform Li Deposition

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2019
The development of Li metal anodes is hindered by the Li dendrites arising from the random deposition of Li metal during cycles. Hence, uniform deposition of Li during repeated cycles is crucial for the development of Li metal batteries. However, it is difficult to regulate Li deposition because of convection in the electrolyte.

Structure of Titanium Nitride coatings deposited by physical vapour deposition: A unified structure model

Surface and Coatings Technology, 1988
Abstract Although a number of studies have been published regarding the structure of physically vapour-deposited titanium nitride coatings, no unified structure model has yet been proposed which accounts for all experimental observations. The results of positron annihilation, X-ray diffraction (on both adherent and free-standing films) and scanning ...
