Triiodothyronine Addition to Paroxetine in the Treatment of Major Depressive Disorder [PDF]
There is evidence that thyroid hormone T3 increases serotonergic neurotransmission. Therefore, T3 addition to antidepressants may improve treatment response in major depression. In nonrefractory depression, T3 addition to tricyclic antidepressants indeed accelerates treatment response.

AbstractThe aim of this open trial was to assess the antidepressant/anxiolytic effects of oxytocin used as an adjunct to antidepressant in treatment-resistant depression. Fourteen patients, who have not responded to 40 mg of escitalopram, received intranasal synthetic oxytocin during 4 weeks, in association with antidepressant.
