Two independent mechanisms for motion-in-depth perception : evidence from individual differences
Our forward-facing eyes allow us the advantage of binocular visual information: using the tiny differences between right and left eye views to learn about depth and location in three dimensions.

A hierarchical genetic disparity estimation algorithm for multiview image synthesis [PDF]
A hierarchical genetic algorithm for disparity estimation is presented. The goal, to estimate reliable disparity fields with low computational cost, is reached using a hierarchical genetic matching procedure.

Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Efficient depth image compression using accurate depth discontinuity detection and prediction [PDF]
This paper presents a novel depth image compression algorithm for both 3D Television (3DTV) and Free Viewpoint Television (FVTV) services. The proposed scheme adopts the K-means clustering algorithm to segment the depth image into K segments.

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Accurate depth from defocus estimation with video-rate implementation [PDF]
The science of measuring depth from images at video rate using „defocus‟ has been investigated. The method required two differently focussed images acquired from a single view point using a single camera.

A coal foreign object detection method based on cross modal attention fusion
The RGB image of coal foreign objects lacks target space and edge information, the color and texture between the object to be detected and the background are similar, the contrast is low, and there are overlapping and occlusion phenomena among the ...

Color and Depth Priors in Natural Images
Natural scene statistics have played an increasingly important role in both our understanding of the function and evolution of the human vision system, and in the development of modern image processing applications. Because range (egocentric distance) is arguably the most important thing a visual system must compute (from an evolutionary perspective ...
