Faraday Tomography of the North Polar Spur: Constraints on the distance to the Spur and on the Magnetic Field of the Galaxy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We present radio continuum and polarization images of the North Polar Spur (NPS) from the Global Magneto-Ionic Medium Survey (GMIMS) conducted with the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory 26-m Telescope.

The stereoscopic analysis and depth map creation

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Business Science and Technology, 2016
This contribution is focused on the use of the stereoscopic image for the purpose of depth map creation. Further, methods for calibration of the camera(s) are discussed. A stereoscopic head was constructed for the purpose of creating a stereoscopic image.

Photon counting compressive depth mapping

open access: yesOptics Express, 2013
We demonstrate a compressed sensing, photon counting lidar system based on the single-pixel camera. Our technique recovers both depth and intensity maps from a single under-sampled set of incoherent, linear projections of a scene of interest at ultra-low light levels around 0.5 picowatts.

Cascaded Multi-Task Learning of Head Segmentation and Density Regression for RGBD Crowd Counting

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
In this paper we propose a novel regression based RGBD crowd counting method. Compared with previous RGBD crowd counting methods which mainly exploit depth cue to facilitate person/head detection, our approach adopts density map regression and is more ...

Multiple Cylinder Extraction from Organized Point Clouds

open access: yesSensors, 2021
Most man-made objects are composed of a few basic geometric primitives (GPs) such as spheres, cylinders, planes, ellipsoids, or cones. Thus, the object recognition problem can be considered as one of geometric primitives extraction.

FACE RECOGNITION TECHNIQUES

open access: yesInformatyka, Automatyka, Pomiary w Gospodarce i Ochronie Środowiska, 2020
The problem of face recognition is discussed. The main methods of recognition are considered. The calibrated stereo pair for the face and calculating the depth map by the correlation algorithm are used.

SPLODE: Semi-Probabilistic Point and Line Odometry with Depth Estimation from RGB-D Camera Motion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Active depth cameras suffer from several limitations, which cause incomplete and noisy depth maps, and may consequently affect the performance of RGB-D Odometry.

Depth map upsampling using depth local features

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2014
A depth map upsampling method using depth local features is proposed. Depth discontinuity and depth variance are extracted from a low‐resolution depth map and a colour image as the depth local features. They are incorporated into an energy function for the Markov random field (MRF)‐based depth upsampling.
