On the depth of cutting planes

open access: yes, 2019
We introduce a natural notion of depth that applies to individual cutting planes as well as entire families. This depth has nice properties that make it easy to work with theoretically, and we argue that it is a good proxy for the practical strength of cutting planes.

The cutting behavior of cortical bone in different bone osten cutting angles and depths of cut [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Abstract Cortical bones are semi-brittle and anisotropic, this brings the challenge to suppress vibration and avoid undesired fracture in precise cutting processes in surgeries. In this paper, we proposed a novel analytical model to represent cutting processes of cortical bones, and we used to evaluate cutting forces and fracture toughness, and

Surface hardness prediction based on cutting parameters in turning of annealed AISI 1020 steel

open access: yesDyna, 2017
The influence of various cutting parameters, cutting speed (Vc), feed rate (f), and depth of cut (d) on the surface hardness developed by turning annealed AISI 1020 steel using carbide insert tools was investigated. It was shown from the measured results

Depth of proofs, depth of cut-formulas and complexity of cut formulas

open access: yesTheoretical Computer Science, 1994
The standard cut-elimination procedure for classical predicate logic is modified to make alternation of quantifiers (rather than the number of quantifiers) the main complexity parameter.

An Experimental Study on the Depth of Cut of Granite in Abrasive Waterjet Cutting

open access: yesMaterials and Manufacturing Processes, 2011
Many studies investigating the cutting performances of waterjets for several kinds of materials such as steel, brass, glass, or aluminium are available. However, there are few studies focused on the rock cutting in the literature. In the present study, therefore, it is aimed at investigating the cuttability of granite by abrasive waterjet.

DEPTHS OF CUT IDENTIFICATION IN 3-AXIS MILLING USING CUTTING FORCE SPECTRUM

open access: yesMM Science Journal, 2021
Cutting forces analysis is one of the most important means of improving machining quality and productivity. In 3-axis milling, the frequency domain analysis of the cutting forces provides information which can be adopted for both predicting and monitoring the cutting process.

The Ratio of Feed to Depth of Cut in Metal Cutting

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society of Precision Engineering, 1962
When a metal is cut simultaniously by end and side cutting edges of a tool with the back rake angle i and side rake angle λ, the chip flows to a definite direction determined not only by the rake angles, but also by the ratio of feed to depth of cut.The optimum chip-flow direction of minimum energy can be controlled by choosing the ratio of feed to ...

Effect of cutting parameters on surface roughness in turning of annealed AISI-1020 steel

open access: yesRevista Facultad de Ingeniería, 2018
This study focuses on the effects of cutting parameters such as cutting speed (Vc), feed rate (f), and depth of cut (d) on roughness induced on the surface of annealed AISI 1020 steel when machined by turning using carbide insert tools.
