Optimizing Resolution and Uncertainty in Bathymetric Sonar Systems [PDF]
Bathymetric sonar systems (whether multibeam or phase-differencing sidescan) contain an inherent trade-off between resolution and uncertainty. Systems are traditionally designed with a fixed spatial resolution, and the parameter settings are optimized to

Microwave spectroscopy of the Mars atmosphere [PDF]
A study of the use of millimeter-wavelength spectral transitions to investigate the atmosphere of Mars is presented. In the model experiments investigated it is assumed that a spectrometer in the frequency range from 100 to 260 GHz looks into a modest ...

Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Towards Underwater Macroplastic Monitoring Using Echo Sounding
Plastics originating from land are mainly transported to the oceans by rivers. The total plastic transport from land to seas remains uncertain because of difficulties in measuring and the lack of standard observation techniques.

Seismic Sounding of Shallow Depths
After a short review of the development of “artificial seismology” a description is given of the modern field procedure when using the seismic refraction method for measuring of small depths, of the order of only a few meters. A small portable instrument equipment used for this purpose is described.

Remote sensing of air-sea interactions [PDF]
A number of preliminary concepts for the measurement or inference of fluxes across the air-sea interface through remote sensing are proposed. All the methods are achievable from aircraft with state-of-the-art technology.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Methods of magneto-variation sounding of the Earth's mantle within the range of periods 10 4 -10 5 s
Impedances of new generalized magnetovariation sounding method are estimated for the period range 10 4 -10 5 s using geomagnetic data of five east European observatories.

Electrical Conductivity Evidence for the Existence of a Mantle Plume Beneath Tarim Basin
This paper proposes using a simulated annealing (SA) calculation to perform one-dimensional inversion of Geomagnetic Depth Sounding (GDS) to obtain the conductivity information of the lower mantle beneath the Tarim area, to calculate the temperature of ...
