Sophisticated Audio Source Separation: A Statistical Exploration of Clarity and Precision With FastICA

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 1, January 2026.
This workflow presents a complete pipeline for audio data processing, beginning with format conversion, channel adjustments, and cleaning, followed by enhancement and visualization techniques. It further applies signal separation using FastICA, postprocessing, and evaluation metrics (SDR, SIR, SAR) to improve audio analysis and support future research ...

An Alternative Approach to the Balanced Model Truncation Algorithm for Acoustic Minimum‐Phase Inverse Filters Order Reduction

open access: yesInternational Scholarly Research Notices, Volume 2011, Issue 1, 2011., 2011
We propose an alternative approach to the Balanced Model Truncation method (standard method). This approach reduces substantially the order of minimum‐phase inverse filters for equalizing room acoustics. This method is based on a property of the filter z transform function, which modifies the corresponding FIR coefficients before the application of the

Implementation of Hybrid Speech Dereverberation Systems and Proposing Dual Microphone Farsi Database in Order to Evaluating Enhancement Systems [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Procedures in Electrical Technology, 2013
In various applications, such as speech recognition and automatic teleconferencing, the recorded speech signals may be corrupted by both noise and reverberation. Reverberation causes a noticeable change in speech intelligibility and quality.

Reverberant environment embedding using dereverberation autoencoder

open access: yesElectronics Letters, Volume 61, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
We design a neural network architecture for dereverberation, combining linear prediction and dereverberation autoencoder. To improve reverberant speech recognition performance with low computational complexity, we propose a method to extract environmental embedding named DA‐embedding instead of applying dereverberation to the input of an acoustic model.

Two-Microphone Dereverberation for Automatic Speech Recognition of Polish

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2014
Reverberation is a common problem for many speech technologies, such as automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems. This paper investigates the novel combination of precedence, binaural and statistical independence cues for enhancing reverberant speech ...

Speech intelligibility improvement in noisy reverberant environments based on speech enhancement and inverse filtering

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Audio, Speech, and Music Processing, 2018
The speech intelligibility of indoor public address systems is degraded by reverberation and background noise. This paper proposes a preprocessing method that combines speech enhancement and inverse filtering to improve the speech intelligibility in such

Control Filter Estimation for Multichannel Active Noise Control Using Kronecker Product Decomposition

open access: yesIET Signal Processing, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Active noise control (ANC) algorithms have been developed within the adaptive algorithm framework. However, multichannel ANC systems, which include numerous reference sensors, control speakers, and error microphones, require a very long control filter converging time for control filter estimation.

Refining the Extent and Depth of the Shear Zone Surrounding the Alpine Fault Using Receiver Function Harmonics

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 51, Issue 23, 16 December 2024.
Abstract Large continental transform faults are thought to cross‐cut the crust and extend into the lithospheric mantle. However, the strain distribution associated with these faults at mantle depths is not well understood. At the heart of this question is the rheology of the lithosphere: when stressed by displacement on a trans‐crustal fault, does the ...

Time‐lapse applications of the Marchenko method on the Troll field

open access: yesGeophysical Prospecting, Volume 72, Issue 3, Page 1026-1036, March 2024.
Abstract The data‐driven Marchenko method is able to redatum wavefields to arbitrary locations in the subsurface, and can, therefore, be used to isolate zones of specific interest. This creates a new reflection response of the target zone without interference from over‐ or underburden reflectors.

Inverse Filtering for Speech Dereverberation Less Sensitive to Noise and Room Transfer Function Fluctuations

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2007
Inverse filtering of room transfer functions (RTFs) is considered an attractive approach for speech dereverberation given that the time invariance assumption of the used RTFs holds.
