Self‐determination of people with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities

Abstract Objective A trial comparing prenatal with postnatal open spina bifida (OSB) repair established that prenatal surgery was associated with better postnatal outcome. However, in the trial, fetal surgery was carried out through hysterotomy. Minimally invasive approaches are being developed to mitigate the risks of open maternal–fetal surgery.

Randomized clinical trial of negative pressure wound therapy as an adjunctive treatment for small‐area thermal burns in children

In this RCT, children with small‐area thermal burns were randomized to standard silver‐impregnated dressings or standard dressings in conjunction with continuous negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT).
