The Semantics of Derivational Morphology

2015
This book presents a synchronic and diachronic investigation of two derivational English affixes. The suffixes -age and -ery are analysed on the basis of dictionary and corpus data and an adapted semantic map method is introduced as a new way of accounting for the semantic structure of derivatives.

Derivational morphology in Functional Discourse Grammar

2014
The aim of this paper is to provide a general overview of derivational morphology in Functional Discourse Grammar (FDG) as presented in Hengeveld and Mackenzie (2008). Terminology Structuring Through the Derivational Morphology

2006
In this work, we address the deciphering of semantic relations between terms in order to build structured terminologies. We study particularly the contribution of morphological clues. Among linguistic operations proposed by the morphology, we analyze affixation and suppletion. We show interpretative schemata emerging from morphologically formed lexemes

Prosodic Constraints in the Derivational Morphology of Italian

1995
Italian has both a series of derivational prefixes and a series of derivational suffixes. Word-final vowels typically do not surface before vowel-initial suffixes. By contrast, if a vowel-final prefix attaches to a vowel-initial word, generally both vowels surface (cf., Scalise 1983, 1984). Examples of suffixation and prefixation are shown in (1a) and (
