Sixth order derivative free family of iterative methods
Applied Mathematics and Computation, 2011A four-parameter family of sixth order convergent iterative methods for solving nonlinear scalar equations is developed. Methods of the family require evaluation of four functions per iteration. These methods are totally free of derivatives. Convergence analysis shows that the family is sixth order convergent, which is also verified through the ...

A Parallel, Asynchronous Method for Derivative-Free Nonlinear Programs
2006Derivative-free optimization algorithms are needed to solve real-world engineering problems that have computationally expensive and noisy objective function and constraint evaluations. In particular, we are focused on problems that involve running cumbersome simulation codes with run times measured in hours.

An efficient derivative-free method for solving nonlinear equations
ACM Transactions on Mathematical Software, 1985An algorithm is presented for finding a root of a real function. The algorithm combines bisection with second and third order methods using derivatives estimated from objective function values. Globaql convergence is ensured and the number of function evaluations is bounded by four times the number needed by bisection.
