Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Application of Weather Derivatives in Multi-Period Risk Management [PDF]

open access: yes
This work is a first attempt to analyze the effect of weather derivative availability on the risk management strategies in a multi-period setting, when crop activities take place twice a year. Rice production in Ecuador is used as a case study. Numerical

The Mathematics of Finance: Pricing Volatility derivatives

open access: yesITM Web of Conferences
In the increasingly complex world of financial markets, the scope of mathematical finance has expanded beyond traditional stock trading to include derivatives on various financial indices. The trading of stock derivatives has become commonplace across global markets.

The cooperative regulation of miR‐221 by APE1 and AUF1 impacts p27Kip1 defining a miR signature relevant for cervical cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A regulatory axis involving APE1, AUF1, and miR‐221 is proposed. Pri‐miR‐221 is processed by DROSHA and DICER to generate mature miR‐221, which targets p27Kip1 mRNA. APE1 and AUF1 compete for pre‐miR‐221 binding. Reduced APE1/AUF1 levels impair miR‐221 biogenesis, decrease p27Kip1 mRNA degradation, and promote cell cycle progression, chemoresistance ...

Dynamics of Valence Framework on Adoption Intention of Financial Derivatives in Developing Markets

open access: yesAdvanced Research in Economics and Business Strategy Journal
This study examines the intention to adopt financial derivatives by integrating valence-based factors, perceived benefit and perceived risk, while examining the moderating role of perceived complexity.

A Framework for Derivative Pricing in the Fractional Black-Scholes Market [PDF]

open access: yes
The aim of this paper is to develop a framework for evaluating derivatives if the underlying of the derivative contract is supposed to be driven by a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter greater than 0.5.

Implications of Behavioural Finance in the Derivative Segment

open access: yesInternational Journal for Research in Applied Science and Engineering Technology, 2023
Abstract: The field of finance has evolved significantly over the years, and with the advent of behavioural finance, a new perspective has emerged in the way market participants behave and make decisions. This article conceptually explores the implications of behavioural finance in the derivatives segment, which is a complex and sophisticated financial

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Approximation of Jump Diffusions in Finance and Economics [PDF]

open access: yes
In finance and economics the key dynamics are often specified via stochastic differential equations (SDEs) of jump-diffusion type. The class of jump-diffusion SDEs that admits explicit solutions is rather limited.

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.
