Laboratory development of Dermacentor marginatus ticks (Acari: Ixodidae) at two temperatures

Experimental and Applied Acarology, 2015
The influence of two temperatures on the development of Dermacentor marginatus evolutive cycle was studied. Tests performed under controlled laboratory conditions at 21 °C, 80 % RH and 27 °C, RH 80 %, on ten fully engorged female ticks collected from naturally infested goats, in Cluj County, Romania. Hatched larvae were fed on white mice and the nymphs

[Hibernation of Dermacentor marginatus ticks in alpine Armenia].

Parazitologiia, 1987
Only mature ticks, engorged females and hungry imago hibernate in mountain regions of Armenia. According to the author's observations eggs of ticks as well as their larvae are not capable of hibernating. In females of spring satiation the development of eggs proceeds in most short periods from May to October.

Ultrastructure of some cutaneous sense organs in Dermacentor marginatus nymphs.

Angewandte Parasitologie, 1979
The fine structure of the integumentary glands and mechanoreceptory setae in Dermacentor marginatus nymphs is described. The integumentary gland is localized in the epidermal layer and secretory products pass through the duct lumen and two cuticular lips to the surface.

Charakterizace defensinu klíštěte \kur{Dermacentor marginatus}

2011
Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), as a part of innate immune system of ticks and other living organisms, are able to eliminate pathogens. In ticks the most important group of AMPs is defensin family. In this work, defensin from the tick D. marginatus was studied. The defensin gene was isolated from D. marginatus fed females.

Antimicrobial and antiborrelial characterization of Dermacentor marginatus defensin.

2019
Ticks, as blood sucking arthropods, are able to transmit various pathogens. Their immune system involves many antimicrobial molecules to fight against them. Among these antimicrobials, defensins, a 5.3 kDa peptides, play an important role in rapid immune answer.

[Vertical migrations of hungry imagoes of the tick Dermacentor marginatus].

Parazitologiia, 1988
The ticks of D. marginatus display activity at a temperature of 3 to 16 C and relative humidity of 20 to 75%. At a low temperature higher than 19 C their activity is inhibited throughout the whole autumn period at any time of the day. Active appearance of ticks on the stems of vegetation was recorded at 8C and higher in August and the first decade of ...
