Molecular Detection of Anaplasma spp. and Ehrlichia spp. in Ruminants from Twelve Provinces of China
Anaplasma spp. and Ehrlichia spp. are tick‐transmitted bacteria that are of significant economic importance as they can infect large and small ruminants and also people. There is little information on anaplasmosis and ehrlichiosis in ruminants in China.

Diversity of Rickettsia species in border regions of northwestern China
Background Rickettsia species belonging to the spotted fever group (SFG) cause infections in humans, domestic animals and wildlife. At least ten SFG Rickettsia species are known to occur in China.

Babesiosis, a globally significant tick‐borne disease, poses substantial threats to livestock production and public health. Reported cases of human babesiosis in the United States increased from 1742 in 2014 to 3586 in 2023. In livestock, cattle babesiosis causes mortality, reduced meat and milk production, reproductive losses, and substantial control ...

As emerging tick born rickettsial diseases caused by A. phagocytophilum and E. chaffeensis, anaplasmosis and ehrlichiosis have become a serious threat to human and animal health throughout the world. In particular, in China, an unusual transmission of nosocomial cases of human granulocytic anaplasmosis occurred in Anhui Province in 2006 and more recent

Ticks are blood‐feeding parasites which act as major vectors for various pathogenic microorganisms affecting both animal and human health. Hard ticks are known to move passively (i.e. ‘hitchhike') on migratory birds as they transit between breeding and non‐breeding grounds.

Global distribution of ticks and their associated tick‐borne pathogens (TBPs) presents substantial health concerns for both humans and animals. The present study aimed to investigate the distribution, morpho‐molecular identification, and associated TBPs of diverse tick species collected from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces of Pakistan ...

We sequenced the entire mt genomes of three species of tick for the first time: Bothriocroton auruginans, B. hydrosauri and H. (Kaiseriana) novaeguineae, and we sequenced the 18S rRNA gene of B. hydrosauri and H. (Kaiseriana) bancrofti. In our phylogenetic trees, Alloceraea was the sister to Archaeocroton sphenodonti, from New Zealand; to the exclusion

A Record of Morphological Anomalies in the Tick Dermacentor nuttalli Olenev (Acari: Ixodidae)
A previously undescribed malformed half-engorged female Dermacentor nuttalli was noticed in our tick specimen collection. This tick exhibited abnormal legs compared with normal D. nuttalli ticks. The first leg on the right side and the third leg on the left side were much smaller than normal ticks, and reduced to a small and degenerated appendix ...

Characterisation of putative novel tick viruses and zoonotic risk prediction
Tick‐borne viruses remain a substantial zoonotic risk worldwide, so knowledge of the diversity of tick viruses has potential health consequences. Through data mining and bioinformatic analyses of more than 37,800 public meta‐genomic and ‐transcriptomic data sets, we found five putative novel Alphatetra‐like viruses, four putative novel Orthomyxo‐like ...

Detection of Brucella in Dermacentor Ticks of Wild Boar with Brucellosis
Brucellosis is a sanitary and economically relevant disease affecting humans, livestock, and wildlife. Ticks have been suggested as vectors, long‐term carriers, and amplifiers of Brucella. In this study, ticks from wildlife ungulate hosts living in hunting reserves of a central region of Spain were collected during a 6‐year period, pooled, and screened
