Anogenital Contact Dermatitis in Spain: A REIDAC Study of Patients Undergoing Patch Testing in 2019–2024

Allergic contact dermatitis is very common in patients with anogenital lesions referred for patch testing in Spain. Key allergens include fragrances, preservatives and topical treatments like anaesthetics and steroids. Emerging sensitisers including benzisothiazolinone and sodium metabisulphite are also relevant.

Results of GC–MS Analyses of 40 Extracts of Diabetes Devices

Forty acetone extracts of 27 diabetes devices were investigated by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. Two hundred eighty four individual chemicals were identified. All 40 extracts contained one or more chemicals that were previously identified as allergens in diabetes devices causing allergic Contact Dermatitis.

Skin Barrier Biomarkers in Patch‐Induced and Clinical Allergic and Irritant Contact Dermatitis

Both patch‐induced and clinical ICD and ACD showed consistent alterations in skin barrier‐associated biomarkers, indicative of skin barrier impairment. Among the tested allergens, chromium elicited more pronounced biomarker responses compared to nickel and methylisothiazolinone.
