Patch Test Reactions to Dental Materials: A Retrospective Single‐Centre Study

In this retrospective single‐centre study of 439 adults referred for suspected delayed‐type hypersensitivity to dental materials, 50.1% had at least one positive patch test reaction, most often to metals. Nickel (23.0%) and palladium (16.6%) pre‐dominated, whilst methacrylate positivity was uncommon (6.2%) and not fully captured by HEMA alone.

Post‐Occlusion Application of Skin Protective Creams Does Not Affect Occlusion‐Induced Barrier Changes: A Randomized Controlled Experimental Study

Post‐occlusion application of protective creams did not consistently reduce occlusion‐induced skin barrier impairment after glove use. Protective efficacy probably depends on formulation and timing, with only immediate pre‐irritant application showing a significant reduction in SLS‐induced barrier disruption.

Assessment of Content and Release of Nickel, Cobalt and Lead in Metallic and Rhinestone Nail Charms in the United States

Nail charms are increasingly popular additions to traditional nail treatments. Nickel release was detected in 38.5% of nail charm products by DMG spot test and 67.5% of products by XRF. Nail charms may represent an underrecognized source of consumer exposure in the United States.
