Impalement of marine turtles (Reptitia, Chelonia: Cheloniidae and Dermochelyidae) by billfishes (Osteichthyes, Perciformes: Istiophoridae and Xiphiidae)

Environmental Biology of Fishes, 1994
Billfishes have long been known to impale a great variety of objects, but there are only two brief, obscure records of marine turtles being speared. Details are presented on these two, as well as on two other confirmed records; data from two additional unconfirmed records are also presented.

Post-Nesting Movements of Marine Turtles (Cheloniidae and Dermochelyidae) Tagged in the Guianas

Copeia, 1976
Six recoveries of leatherback turtles tagged while nesting in the Guianas and caught in the United States, Mexico, Venezuela, and Ghana are among the longest recorded migrations for turtles of any kind. Seventy-two ridley turtles from the same nesting area were recaptured as far west as Barbados, Trinidad, and Isla Margarita, and as far east as Amapa ...

Determination of the haplotype and complete mitochondrial genome of the leatherback turtle Dermochelys coriacea (Testudines: Dermochelyidae) found in the vicinity of Korea

Conservation Genetics Resources, 2017
Although several strandings of the leatherback turtle (Dermochelys coriacea Vandelli, 1761) have been reported in Korea, its haplotype or mitogenome have yet to be investigated. Herein, we report the first complete mitogenome of D. coriacea. The 16,501-bp sequenced mitogenome is similar to those of other marine turtles, and the particular genetic ...
