Effects of landscape context on avian specialist response to increased surface temperature in protected areas

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Human development is a driver of global change and a major threat to biodiversity. Protected areas maintain and support biodiversity, but outside stressors, such as climate change and land use change, can negatively influence natural resources within protected areas.

Advancing conservation breeding programs for marine invertebrates

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract In the face of ecosystem change and biodiversity loss caused by climate change and other stressors, conservation breeding, or captive breeding, with the aim of reintroduction for wild population recovery, is an emerging tool for preventing species’ extinction and rehabilitating ecosystems.

Forwarding forest restoration: Seven key socio‐ecological issues for advancing forest restoration in a world in flux

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 3, Page 569-581, March 2026.

The making of novel ecosystems: A process‐based framework for measurement, analysis and application

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 3, Page 683-704, March 2026.
Abstract Ecological novelty is emerging rapidly due to global change drivers such as climate shifts, species introductions, defaunation, and land‐use transformation. These changes challenge how we assess, understand and manage ecosystems in the Anthropocene.

Effects of organized guarding on mortality from human–elephant conflict in northeast India

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Human–elephant conflict (HEC) frequently results in human and elephant mortality, posing major social justice and conservation concerns across Asia and Africa. Although a variety of interventions have been introduced to mitigate HEC, rigorous evaluations of how they affect mortality are practically nonexistent.

CASPR2 Autoimmune Antibodies Induce Neuronal Hyperactivity in Human Brain Organoids

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 170, Issue 2, February 2026.
Maternal antibodies targeting CASPR2 are a known risk factor for neurodevelopmental disorders, yet their impact on early human brain development remains unclear. We modeled this exposure using human neural organoids treated with patient‐derived CASPR2 antibodies up to the age of 6 months.
