Layered double hydroxides-indomethacin nanohybrids: intercalation, pH influence, stability and release properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this work, three pH values (8, 9 and 10) were studied for the insertion of Indomethacin (Indo) molecules into Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs). The obtained results showed that the LDH materials have been a good storage for the drug.

Divergent Position Taking Under Uncertainty With an Application to Chile's 2021–2022 Constituent Convention

open access: yesLegislative Studies Quarterly, Volume 51, Issue 2, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Sometimes politicians must take indelible public stances under unresolved uncertainty about an outcome they cannot control, for example, consider the minority on a proposal that is bound to pass. Counter to the expectations that party platforms converge, and that rational individuals balk at betting against one another, we show this can lead ...

Surface intermediate species of the 4-isobutylacetophenone adsorption-reaction over fosfotungstic Wells-Dawson heteropoly acid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Surface adsorbed species of isobutylbenzene and 4-isobutylacetophenone on bulk fosfotungstic Wells-Dawson acid have been screened in the present investigation.

Ellagitannin HeT obtained from strawberry leaves is oxidized by bacterial membranes and inhibits the respiratory chain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Plant secondary metabolism produces a variety of tannins that have a wide range of biological activities, including activation of plant defenses and antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antitumoral effects.

Meridional Dipole in Eddy Activity Along Peruvian Coast During Eastern Pacific El Niño Events

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
Abstract Mesoscale oceanic eddies (O $O$(100)km) play a key role in regulating climate by affecting the transport of heat and water mass properties. However, most climate models struggle to simulate these eddies due to coarse horizontal resolution. Using a 120‐year ultra‐high‐resolution simulation with 1/10° ${}^{\circ}$ horizontal ocean resolution ...

Okara: A nutritionally valuable by-product able to stabilize lactobacillus plantarum during freeze-drying, spray-drying, and storage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Okara is a nutritionally valuable by-product produced in large quantities as result of soymilk elaboration. This work proposes its use as both culture and dehydration medium during freeze-drying, spray-drying, and storage of Lactobacillus plantarum CIDCA

Compost legacy effects in active roadside restoration: Medium‐term shifts in plant succession

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 7, Issue 2, April/June 2026.
Roadside restoration experiment established on volcanic tephra following road construction in Andean Patagonia. A single application of municipal (MC) or biosolids (BC) compost rapidly increased plant cover compared with untreated controls (C) but led to distinct, exotic‐dominated plant communities over 6 years.

EQCM Study of the Adsorption of Polyethyleneglycol With Different Molecular Weights and its Coadsorption With Cl- ions on Pt in Perchloric Acid Solution

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2010
The adsorption of polyethyleneglycol with different molecular weights (PEGX; x = 400, 3000, 8000, or 20000), and its coadsorption with Cl- ions, was investigated using cyclic voltammetry (CV) in conjunction with simultaneous measurements of the frequency

Microbial Contribution to Soiling and Its Impact on Photovoltaic Module Soiling in Arid Zones of the Atacama Desert

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 10, Issue 4, April 2026.
Microorganisms colonizing photovoltaic surfaces in the Atacama desert form biofilms that enhance particle adhesion and reduce energy yield. This study identifies UV‐resistant bacteria and carotenoid‐producing strains that interfere with PV performance.

A Renal Clearable Probe for In Vivo Monoamine Oxidase (MAO) Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 23, 23 April 2026.
A renal‐clearable Cy7‐based fluorogenic probe enables rapid and non‐invasive detection of monoamine oxidase (MAO) activity in vivo. Upon MAO‐mediated activation, the fluorescent product is efficiently excreted in urine, allowing direct quantification of enzyme overexpression.
