Illuminating Blurry Vision: Visualization of Corneal Protein Deposition With Immunofluorescence in Two Illustrative Case Reports

open access: yesCase Reports in Pathology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) is an asymptomatic, premalignant disease with a progression rate of 0.5%–1% per year to multiple myeloma. It can rarely present with significant ocular symptoms in the context of crystalline keratopathy, necessitating medical and surgical interventions.

Electrospun Nanofiber Membrane for Cultured Corneal Endothelial Cell Transplantation

open access: yesBioengineering
The corneal endothelium, comprising densely packed corneal endothelial cells (CECs) adhering to Descemet’s membrane (DM), plays a critical role in maintaining corneal transparency by regulating water and ion movement.

Long‐Term Graft Survival and Visual Outcomes in Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty (DALK): A Narrative Review

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) selectively replaces the scarred or diseased corneal stroma, while preserving healthy endothelium, thus providing an alternative to penetrating keratoplasty (PK) for patients with stromal disorders. Despite its recognized advantages, DALK has not become as widely adopted as anticipated over the past decades ...

Electrospun Poly (Glycerol Sebacate) (PGS) Membranes for Corneal Tissue Engineering

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 310, Issue 11, November 2025.
Fibrous PGS membranes that are composed of homogenous fibers are fabricated by electrospinning. Durability and permeability of the membranes closely resemble the natural cornea. Thereby, successfully supporting the proliferation of human corneal epithelial cells (HCEC) and human corneal endothelial cells (HCEndC).

Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty for Penetrating Keratoplasty

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences
ABSTRACT Background: Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) has been utilized more frequently during recent years to treat penetrating keratoplasty (PKP) graft failures. The perioperative evaluation technique of anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) is increasingly ...
