Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty is a new technique for the replacement of diseased corneal endothelium with healthy donor endothelium. During this procedure, manipulation of the donor endothelium-Descemet membrane layer within the recipient anterior chamber can be associated with loss of the correct anterior-posterior orientation. Herein, we

Endothelium-in Versus Endothelium-out Insertion With Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty
Cornea, 2018Purpose: To determine whether graft orientation during insertion affects Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) outcomes. Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of 754 consecutive DMEK cases performed by 2 experienced surgeons to treat ...

To describe the use of an accidentally torn Descemet membrane (DM) to successfully complete Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) surgery.Retrospective, observational case series of 3 eyes of 3 patients undergoing DMEK with a DM accidentally torn into 2 pieces during graft preparation.

Descemet's membrane as membranous support in RPE/IPE transplantation
Current Eye Research, 1997The correct orientation of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells is necessary for the integrity and proper function of the retina. For transplantation of RPE/iris pigment epithelium (IPE) grafts to the subretinal space in age-related macular degeneration, this cellular orientation is most effectively provided by a membranous support.

Descemet’s Membrane Detachment
2013Corneal injury resulting from glaucoma surgery has been well described. Causes of injury can range from direct mechanical manipulation to the often more subtle pharmacologically induced injuries that occur with use of antifibrotic medications. Descemet’s membrane detachment (DMD) occurs uncommonly during or after intraocular surgery and has been linked

Spontaneous Detachment of Descemet??s Membrane
Cornea, 1989Detachment of Descemet's membrane is an unusual cause of postoperative corneal edema. The typical detachment is small and usually limited to the area near the limbal wound. These peripheral detachments usually heal without sequelae as endothelium spreads over the area and secretes a new Descemet's membrane.

Descemet-Membran-Endothelkeratoplastik (DMEK)

Stripping of Descemet's Membrane in Cataract Extraction
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1965This paper describes three eyes in which Descemet's membrane was inadvertently stripped from the cornea during cataract extraction. In all eyes the mishap passed unnoticed at the time of surgery, and was recognized only days or weeks later when a corneal opacity was noted that simulated the appearance of epithelial downgrowth.
