Revising Fascial Anatomy With a Focus on the Fusion Fascia in Mesenteric Gastrointestinal Cancer Surgery

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This review critically reassesses our prior hypothesis and proposes a revised anatomical model of the fusion fascia that is broadly applicable to GI cancer surgeries grounded in the principles of mesenteric resection. Our synthesis suggests that the fusion fascia is neither a dense connective tissue membrane nor a remnant of mesothelial fusion, but ...

RefineCatDiff: Toward High‐Quality Medical Image Segmentation via a Categorical Diffusion Refinement Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study proposes RefineCatDiff, a refinement framework for high‐quality medical image segmentation. By developing a categorical distribution‐based discrete diffusion process for refinement, the framework aligns well with the characteristics of image segmentation tasks. Experimental results on multiple datasets across different modalities demonstrate

Association of Segment‐Specific Pulse Wave Velocity With Vascular Calcification: The ARIC (Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities) Study

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background Pulse wave velocity (PWV) is a noninvasive measure of arterial stiffness and predictor of cardiovascular disease. However, the association between PWV and vascular calcification across different vascular beds has not been fully investigated ...

Video-assisted thoracoscopic resection of fractured ribs to prevent descending aorta injury in patient with chest trauma.

open access: yesAnnals of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 2014
Blunt chest trauma frequently leads to various complications such as pneumothorax, hemothorax, and lung contusion. Since neighboring organ injury caused by a rib fracture with chest trauma could be fatal when a great vessel is involved, immediate ...

A Soft‐Tip Hydraulically Steerable Catheter for Enhanced Flexibility and Safety in Vascular Interventions

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study introduces a hydraulically steerable catheter with a soft tip in vascular procedures. The steering soft tip achieves a minimal diameter of 2.6 mm and supports a 180° bend. Real‐time shape and position tracking, facilitated by segmentation and endpoint detection techniques, improves navigation.
