Path planning and intelligent control of a soft robot arm based on gas-structure coupling actuators

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2022
A fully 3D-printed soft pneumatic robotic arm based on two types of gas-structure coupling actuators is designed for on-orbit servicing. The path planning algorithm and trajectory tracking control strategy of the arm are developed.

A case study of heat transmission in a Williamson fluid flow through a ciliated porous channel: A semi-numerical approach

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2023
Williamson fluid with cilia motion helps to understand the non-Newtonian fluids' rheological characteristics and get better heat transmission rates. Thus, the current problem is intended to semi-numerically discuss the heat transmission in Williamson ...

Extension of a sharp-interface immersed-boundary method for simulating parachute inflation

open access: yesAdvances in Aerodynamics
In this work, the sharp-interface immersed boundary (IB) method proposed by Mittal et al. (J Comput Phys 227(10):4825–4852, 2008) is extended to fluid-structure-interaction (FSI) simulation of parachute inflation by utilizing several open-source tools ...

The role of shape-dependent flight stability in the origin of oriented meteorites

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2019
Significance Motivated by the conical shape of so-called oriented meteorites, we assess experimentally how the flight dynamics and postural stability of a body moving through a fluid depend on its shape.
