The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Le zbeul

open access: yesAteliers d'Anthropologie
When one is an ethnographer-anthropologist, one cannot write ethnographies on everything, everywhere, all the time. Yet, one cannot help trying. When reality requires it, we sometimes end up taking shortcuts—maybe even poetic ones?

An Investigation of Plot, Characterization, Description, Point of View and Imagery in the Tale of Rustam and White Div Battle [PDF]

open access: yesمتن شناسی ادب فارسی, 2013
The battle of Rustam and White Div is the last stage among seven stages of Rustam’s going to Mazandaran. This article consists of two sections. In the first section or introduction, the problem and questions of research are presented.

Laws Are Not Descriptions [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Studies in the Philosophy of Science, 2015
The view that takes laws of nature to be essentially nothing more than descriptions of facts is still rather popular. The present paper, on the contrary, defends the claim that the only real motivation for defending a descriptive view of laws – the quest for ontological parsimony – entails too high a price to pay in philosophical terms.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The extent of Manouchehri Damoghani's impressionability from Imru'lQays's Pending Ode [PDF]

open access: yesمتن شناسی ادب فارسی, 2009
Manouchehri Damghani, a poet of the 5th century, had a special notice to the Arabic language and literature. The application of Arabic words and idioms even obsolete ones, pointing out the names of nearly thirty Arab poets, his recommending memorizing ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
