Beat Phenomena in MRI - Theoretical and Experimental Description of the Impact of Mechanical Resonances on Fast Readouts

ISMRM Annual Meeting, 2023
This work highlights the mechanically resonant behaviour of MRI gradient systems when excited with an oscillating gradient, e.g. echo planar readout. Results demonstrate that a beat phenomenon can be observed in the signal phase with a frequency dependent on readout bandwidth and mechanical resonances of the system.

SQTW

ACM SIGSIM Simulation Digest, 1997
In this paper we address the problem of efficiently performing parallel discrete-event simulation in the case that events elaboration is dependent of other processes' local states. We propose a parallel simulation policy, called State Query Time Warp (SQTW), based on the Time Warp mechanism.

Growth Mechanisms in Skulls with Facial CleftsDescriptive and Experimental Studies on the Facial Skeleton

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1979
During postnatal growth, skulls of patients with untreated unilateral clefts of the alveolus and palate develop additional anomalies of the facial skeleton. Similar anomalies--a deviation of the upper jaw to the non-cleft side and retropositioning of the maxilla on the cleft side--develop in rabbits with the same type of cleft, surgically produced in ...

Gill-cleaning mechanisms of a dendrobranchiate shrimp,Rimapenaeus similis (Decapoda, Penaeidae): Description and experimental testing of function

Journal of Morphology, 1999
Observations on functional morphology and results from experiments demonstrate that setiferous epipods compose the major gill-cleaning mechanism in a penaeoid shrimp, Rimapenaeus similis. Epipods on the second maxillipeds and on pereopods 1-3 are equipped with long setae bearing an array of digitate scale setules.

The sooth beneath the taste roseas in the urethra and first description of neuro-morpho-chemical mechanism of penile erectile posture in males: an experimental study

International Journal of Neuroscience, 2017
The morphologic mechanism of orgasmic sensation has not yet been understood. Taste roseas may be stimulated by fructose via pudendal nerves, which has not been studied yet.In this study, 27 male adult rabbits were used, which were divided into three groups: 5 as control; 5 as SHAM and 17 used as study group.

Experimental investigation of countercurrent flow limitation (CCFL) in a large-diameter hot-leg geometry: A detailed description of CCFL mechanisms, flow patterns and high-quality HSC imaging of the interfacial structure in a 1/3.9 scale of PWR geometry

Nuclear Engineering and Design, 2014
Abstract Countercurrent flow limitation (CCFL) is experimentally investigated in large-diameter hot-leg geometry. COLLIDER test facility consists of reactor vessel simulator (RVs), hot-leg pipe, and a steam generator simulator (SGs) and was constructed to be a 1/3.9 scale model of a real PWR geometry.

Effect of the elastase inhibitor, eglin-c, on antibacterial mechanisms in experimental pneumonia. Description of a system to quantitate phagocytic and bactericidal activity of resident murine alveolar macrophages in vivo.

The American review of respiratory disease, 1987
To evaluate the influence of the elastase inhibitor, eglin-c, on lung host defense, normal CD-1 mice were challenged intratracheally with type 3 Streptococcus pneumoniae suspended in phosphate-buffered saline alone or containing 10 mg/ml eglin-c. After infection with 5 X 10(3) colony-forming units (cfu), animals given eglin-c demonstrated a significant
