Unpacking descriptive representation

2018
This research aims to understand how black descriptive representation comes about and why black descriptive representation matters, at the state level. What distinguishes this research from previous works is its simultaneous analysis of different forms of descriptive representation at the subnational level, rather than in Congress or at the local level.

Phonotactic Descriptions and Their Representation

1998
Statements of permissible combinations of phonemes in a language are known as its phonotactics. Such statements can be formulated as constraints on wellformedness of phonological structures within the domain of declarative phonology (cf. Chapter 2).

STRUCTURAL REPRESENTATIONS OF NATURALISTIC DESCRIPTIONS OF PERSONALITY

Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1974
Using an open-ended questionnaire, each of a sample of college students was asked to describe the personalities of each of five people he or she knows well. A measure of concurrence of the most frequently used trait categories was used as input for hierarchical clustering and multidimensional scaling.

An Efficient Shape Representation and Description Technique

2007 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2007
In this paper, we present a novel approach to shape representation and description based on the combination of the Hilbert space filling curve and wavelet analysis. Our objective is to capitalize on the localization-preserving nature of the Hilbert space filling curve and the approximation power of the wavelet transform.

Review of shape representation and description techniques

Pattern Recognition, 2004
More and more images have been generated in digital form around the world. There is a growing interest in 1nding images in large collections or from remote databases. In order to 1nd an image, the image has to be described or represented by certain features. Shape is an important visual feature of an image. Searching for images using shape features has

Description Logic Representation for Requirement Specification

2007
With the size and complexity of many software systems increasing, they need to give a greater emphasis to capture and maintain requirement knowledge within the software development process. This knowledge can be captured by the requirement ontology.

Mammographic Knowledge Representation in Description Logic

2012
We present an advanced approach to representing knowledge about breast radiographs or mammograms which has advantages in terms of both usability and software engineering. The approach uses ontologies to create not merely a class hierarchy for a vocabulary but a full formal representation and, further, takes advantage of reasoning with description logic
