A fast shape descriptor

Computer Vision, Graphics, and Image Processing, 1986
A new fast shape descriptor, based upon the rapid transformation of Reitboeck and Brody, is presented. The normalized rapid descriptors (NRD) developed here and normalized Fourier descriptors (NFD) are applied to the analyses of some typical 2D images. It is shown that they both have good recognition performance.

Descriptor systems: Expanded descriptor equation and Markov parameters

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1983
Generalized concepts of solvability and conditionability are presented for descriptor systems, and tests are given for these generalized properties. An expression is derived for descriptor system Markov parameters. The notion of "expanded descriptor equation" is presented.

Local motion descriptors

2001 IEEE Fourth Workshop on Multimedia Signal Processing (Cat. No.01TH8564), 2002
Motion features play an important role in video retrieval. We propose three new motion features that describe the local motion of arbitrarily shaped video objects. The proposed descriptors are based on the angular and circular area variances of the video object, the variances of the angular radial transform coefficients of the object's area, and the ...

Color and texture descriptors

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, 2001
This paper presents an overview of color and texture descriptors that have been approved for the Final Committee Draft of the MPEG-7 standard. The color and texture descriptors that are described in this paper have undergone extensive evaluation and development during the past two years.

One-two descriptor

Journal of Mathematical Chemistry, 2010
In this paper, we introduce the one-two descriptor. The one-two descriptors is the sum of the vertex contributions such that each pendant vertex contributes 1, each vertex of degree two adjacent to pendant vertex contributes 2, and each vertex of degree higher than two also contributes 2.

Semantic descriptors of pain

Pain, 1987
Eighty-five patients suffering from advanced cancer pain were asked to attribute a 'definite value' to 5 key words describing pain by rating them on a visual analogue scale (VAS). The score which the patient attributed to each key word was then correlated with 9 variables obtained through patient monitoring files (sex, age, educational background ...

Descriptors for antimicrobial peptides

Expert Opinion on Drug Discovery, 2011
A frightening increase in the number of isolated multidrug resistant bacterial strains linked to the decline in novel antimicrobial drugs entering the market is a great cause for concern. Cationic antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have lately been introduced as a potential new class of antimicrobial drugs, and computational methods utilizing molecular ...

Size-intensive descriptors

Journal of Computer-Aided Molecular Design, 2008
Non-linear effects in multi-linear structure-property (QSPR) models are sometimes included by using descriptors transformed by mathematical functions such as the square root or logarithm. Less commonly, products of two descriptors are used to account for cross dependencies. As described here, simple division of descriptors by chemical sample size (e.g.

Complementary Keypoint Descriptors

2016
We examine the use of complementary descriptors for keypoint recognition in digital images. The descriptors combine multiple types of information, including shape, color, and texture. We first review several keypoint descriptors and propose new descriptors that use normalized brightness/color spatial histograms.

WHIM Descriptors of Shape

QSAR & Combinatorial Science, 2006
AbstractWHIM descriptors are 3D structural descriptors obtained from the (x,y,z)‐atomic coordinates of a molecular conformation of a chemical, and are used successfully in QSAR modelling. They are built in so as to capture relevant 3D information regarding different features of molecular structure: size, shape, symmetry and atom distribution. Different
