Molecular Descriptors

2016
Despite the number of available chemicals growing exponentially, testing of their toxicological and environmental behavior is often a critical issue and alternative strategies are required. Additionally, there is the need to predict properties of not yet synthesized compounds to reduce the costs of synthesis, selecting only those that have the maximal ...

PPF-FoldNet: Unsupervised Learning of Rotation Invariant 3D Local Descriptors

European Conference on Computer Vision, 2018
We present PPF-FoldNet for unsupervised learning of 3D local descriptors on pure point cloud geometry. Based on the folding-based auto-encoding of well known point pair features, PPF-FoldNet offers many desirable properties: it necessitates neither ...

The Dimensionality Of Psychopathology Descriptors

Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1981
This study identified five stable dimensions that judges utilized in making similarity judgments of a set of 26 psychopathology descriptors from a diverse domain representing traditional psychopathology descriptions such as lay labels, and diagnostic categories from the second edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM II), as well as ...

Descriptor Kalman estimators

International Journal of Systems Science, 1999
A unifying framework of steady-state Kalman filtering, smoothing and prediction for descriptor systems is presented by using the innovation analysis method in the time domain. The descriptor Kalman estimators are presented on the basis of the autoregressive moving-average innovation model and white-noise estimators.

Descriptor systems approximation

International Journal of General Systems, 2004
Two singular value decomposition (SVD)-based techniques to construct different types of lower degree approximants of a singular system are presented. Such techniques enable preservation of the key properties of the original system, such as stability, and give a quantization of approximation error.

Rethinking the sGLOH Descriptor

IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2018
sGLOH (shifting GLOH) is a histogram-based keypoint descriptor that can be associated to multiple quantized rotations of the keypoint patch without any recomputation. This property can be exploited to define the best distance between two descriptor vectors, thus avoiding computing the dominant orientation.

A fast shape descriptor

Computer Vision, Graphics, and Image Processing, 1986
A new fast shape descriptor, based upon the rapid transformation of Reitboeck and Brody, is presented. The normalized rapid descriptors (NRD) developed here and normalized Fourier descriptors (NFD) are applied to the analyses of some typical 2D images. It is shown that they both have good recognition performance.

DH3D: Deep Hierarchical 3D Descriptors for Robust Large-Scale 6DoF Relocalization

European Conference on Computer Vision, 2020
For relocalization in large-scale point clouds, we propose the first approach that unifies global place recognition and local 6DoF pose refinement. To this end, we design a Siamese network that jointly learns 3D local feature detection and description ...

Descriptor systems: Expanded descriptor equation and Markov parameters

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1983
Generalized concepts of solvability and conditionability are presented for descriptor systems, and tests are given for these generalized properties. An expression is derived for descriptor system Markov parameters. The notion of "expanded descriptor equation" is presented.

Local motion descriptors

2001 IEEE Fourth Workshop on Multimedia Signal Processing (Cat. No.01TH8564), 2002
Motion features play an important role in video retrieval. We propose three new motion features that describe the local motion of arbitrarily shaped video objects. The proposed descriptors are based on the angular and circular area variances of the video object, the variances of the angular radial transform coefficients of the object's area, and the ...
