Microbial Profiling, Metabolic Adaptation, and Growth Kinetic Modeling of Intact and Mechanically Damaged Milk Kefir Grains During Successive Batch Fermentations

Journal of Food Process Engineering, Volume 49, Issue 11, November 2026.
Kefir grains were propagated through successive batch fermentation cycles and evaluated for biomass growth, metabolic adaptation, microbial community shifts, and growth kinetics. Mechanical damage reduced biomass regeneration, while the reduced Baranyi model provided the best description of growth dynamics.

AKT Phosphorylation of FOXK2 at Ser398 Impacts Breast Cancer Cell Growth and Viability

The FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 20, 31 October 2026.
Higher FOXK2 protein levels are associated with increased AKT phosphorylation and chemoresistance in breast cancer cells. AKT modulates FOXK2 protein levels, with no such regulation in FOXK2 mRNA levels. GSK3β, a known substrate of AKT (dotted arrow), does not regulate FOXK2 in our cellular model.
