Biohybrid Computing with Proteinoids and Algae

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We developed a novel biohybrid computing system by combining proteinoid microspheres with algae. The biological mixture creates spontaneous electrical oscillations. These oscillations can perform simple logic operations, such as AND, OR, NAND, and NOR gates. Environmental factors like temperature and pH affect how the system works.

Grazing decreases net ecosystem carbon exchange by decreasing shrub and semi‐shrub biomass in a desert steppe

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Livestock grazing can strongly determine how grasslands function and their role in the carbon cycle. However, how ecosystem carbon exchange responds to grazing and the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.

Leaf carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus ecological stoichiometry of grassland ecosystems along 2,600-m altitude gradients at the Northern slope of the Tianshan Mountains

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Ecological stoichiometry of terrestrial ecosystems has been a hot issue in current research, with intense focus on the proportional relationships of nutritional elements within plants and between plants and their environment.

A Tunable Strategy for Continuous Production of Electrolyte‐Free Formic Acid and Sodium Formate in a Solid‐State‐Electrolyte Based Electrocatalytic CO2 Reduction System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A tunable strategy based on Membrane electrode assembly‐SSE (MEA‐SSE) cells to continuously generate electrolyte‐free formic acid/sodium formate solution, holds high potential for industrial applications. Abstract Electrocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) based on solid‐state‐electrolyte (SSE) reactors can efficiently convert CO2 to electrolyte ...
