Packed hydrogel microfiber (PHM) materials consist of flexible and high aspect ratio hydrogel components that, as a bulk material, are simultaneously mechanically robust and dynamic. Cells cultured in or on PHM scaffolds can be influenced by topographical cues or interact with a dynamic environment that permits cell spreading and multicellular ...

Optimizing the performance of desiccant beds for solar-regenerated cooling
Detailed computer simulations as well as a simplified psychrometric analysis are used to determine the increase in cooling system performance that can be realized through the use of nonhomogeneous or staged desiccant beds.

This study presents a bioengineered assembloid (ASM) system combining glioblastoma (GBM) cells in oxidized alginate (OA) microgels with dorsal organoids (DOs). This model simulates brain tumor‐host interactions, revealing enhanced GBM invasion, altered gene expression, and aggressive infiltration patterns, demonstrating ASM as a valuable platform for ...

DEAC: Desiccant enhancement of cooling-based dehumidification
The desiccant-enhanced air conditioner (DEAC) uses a desiccant wheel or liquid desiccant to pre-cool and humidify the return air entering a cooling coil and then post-heat and dehumidify the supply air as it leaves the coil.

Multidimensional Cellular Micro‐Compartments to Model Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Dormancy
Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) is an understudied subtype of breast cancer that is susceptible to late recurrences. In this study, micro‐compartmentalization techniques spanning multiple dimensions, including 2D, pseudo‐3D, and 3D, are integrated to uncover the mechanisms underlying ILC dormancy, revealing the central role of p27Kip1.

Photothermal‐Activated Antibacterial Amyloid‐Polyphenol‐Iron Hydrogels for Synergistic Wound Healing
We report a thermally triggered supramolecular hydrogel (LTFe) formed by Fe3+ and tannic acid on lysozyme amyloid fibrils. Fe3+ enables rapid gelation and photothermal transduction with an efficiency of 88.56%. The LTFe hydrogel exhibits excellent biocompatibility, potent antibacterial activity against E. coli and S.
