An Alternative Desiccant Cooling Cycle
Journal of Solar Energy Engineering, 1995A computer analysis of the thermal performance of a desiccant cooling cycle in which the cooled air, passing to the space to be conditioned, has not been in contact with the desiccant. It is shown that an important factor is the efficiency of the desiccant tower. Only liquid desiccants are considered.

IMPROVEMENTS IN SOLID DESICCANT COOLING
Drying Technology, 1993ABSTRACT The DINC (Direct-Indirect Evaporative Cooling) cycle was proposed in 1986 by Texas A6H researchers. The idea wae to combine the benefits of direct and indirect evaporative cooling with desiccant dehumidifying using a rotating aolid silica-gel dehumidifier. Recent parametric studies completed for the Texas Energy Ramarch In Applications Program

A Review of Desiccant Cooling Systems
Journal of Energy Resources Technology, 1993This paper describes recent published design advances that have been made in desiccant cooling systems. In desiccant cooling cycles, the desiccant reduces the humidity of the air by removing moisture from the air. Then the temperature is reduced by other components such as heat exchangers, evaporative coolers, or conventional cooling coils.

Desiccant Degradation in Desiccant Cooling Systems: A System Study
Journal of Solar Energy Engineering, 1993We predicted the impact of desiccant degradation on the performance of an open-cycle desiccant cooling system in ventilation mode using the degradation data on silica gel obtained from a previous study. The degradation data were based on thermal cycling desiccant samples and exposing them to ambient or contaminated air.

Desiccant Degradation in Desiccant Cooling Systems: An Experimental Study
Journal of Solar Energy Engineering, 1993We conducted experiments to quantify the effects of thermal cycling and exposure to contamination on solid desiccant materials that may be used in desiccant cooling systems. The source of contamination was cigarette smoke, which is considered one of the worst pollutants in building cooling applications.

Desiccant aging and its effects on desiccant cooling system performance
Applied Thermal Engineering, 1996Desiccants used for the purpose of space conditioning or enthalpy transfer can be subjected to hundreds of thousands of adsorption/regeneration cycles over their useful life. Studying the loss of a desiccant's equilibrium water adsorption capacity after exposure to thermal cycling is a common method for quantifying desiccant aging. Since isotherm shape

Progress in selecting desiccant and dehumidifier for liquid desiccant cooling system
Energy and Buildings, 2012Abstract Liquid desiccant cooling system (LDCS) is an alternative air-conditioning system with good energy-saving potential. Dehumidification performance is the key part of LDCS; while desiccant variety and dehumidifier influence the dehumidification performance.

Journal of Heat Recovery Systems, 1986
Abstract The equilibrium sorption isotherms of a silica gel matrix manufactured in the form of a desiccant felt are experimentally determined as a function of temperature and relative humidity. Using the data, the differential heat of sorption and the integral heat of wetting are calculated. These results then are used as property data in a numerical

Performance of Cross-Cooled Desiccant Dehumidifiers
Journal of Solar Energy Engineering, 1983A cross-cooled silica gel desiccant dehumidifier model was designed, built, and tested. The performance of the unit was studied as a function of the inlet process stream dew point, process stream and cooling stream flow rates, and regeneration stream temperature and dew point. The tests were also simulated by a computer program and were compared to the

Abstract Solid desiccant cooling technology has become a research focus for its features of energy-saving and eco-friendly. However, widely adopted rotary desiccant wheel cooling system can't realize inner-cooling dehumidification process. In this paper, a novel self-cooled solid desiccant cooling system (SCDHE) is developed by integrating desiccant ...
