Piecewise Optimal Design Method of Tubular Strings Based on Extended-Reach Drilling Limits

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2020
The lateral limit of extended reach well has been continuously improved, leading to more complicated mechanical behavior of the pipe string, which has put forward higher requirements for the optimization design of the pipe string. Considering the various

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

A micro-CT comparison of the latest ProTaper Ultimate file system with ProTaper Next file system for apical transportation and centering ability

open access: yesEndodontology
Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the apical transportation and centering efficacy of ProTaper Ultimate (PTU) and ProTaper Next (PTN) by micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) analysis.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Analysis of Seismic Performance for Segmentally Assembled Double-Column Bridge Structures Based on Equivalent Stiffness

open access: yesBuildings
Double-column self-centering segmentally assembled bridges (SC-SABs) present greater design complexity compared to single-column systems, primarily due to vertical stiffness discontinuities at segmental spandrel abutments, which critically affect the ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Seismic Performance Research of Self-Centering Single-Column Bridges Using Equivalent Stiffness Theory

open access: yesBuildings
Single-column hybrid-reinforced self-centering segmental assembled bridges (SHR-SCSAB) exhibit vertical stiffness discontinuities, significantly impacting the refinement of their seismic design methodology.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

CONTACT JOINT STRENGTH OF PRECAST COLUMNS WITH DEFORMABLE CENTRING LAYING

open access: yesНаука и техника, 2014
Due to growth of number of storeys in a dwelling and public buildings for mass gatherings (up to 20-25 storeys) requirements of their construction industrialization necessitate designs of precast column joints which are capable to bear high loads (up to ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
