Electrochemical and Thermal Interplay in Blended Cathodes for All Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This work analyzes blended LFP‐NMC cathodes for all solid state batteries, revealing their balanced rate performance and enhanced thermal properties. Operando X‐ray diffraction studies uncovered lithiation gradients and asymmetric charging effects due to kinetic limitations.

Integrated Bipolar Membrane Electrodialysis and Electrolysis for CO2 Capture and Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates an integrated BMEED platform that couples CO2 capture and conversion within a single modular system. By combining BMED with CO2E, high‐purity CO is produced while avoiding intermediate stripping, excessive capital and O&M costs, and external gas feeds.

A Fluorine‐Free, Low Ion Pair Electrolyte for Transition Metal‐Free and Halogen‐Free Sodium Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Fluorine‐containing electrolytes dominate modern rechargeable batteries, yet the fundamental design principles for fluorine‐free systems remain largely unexplored. We demonstrate that fluorine‐free electrolyte chemistry can simultaneously achieve long cycle life, fast charging, and stable interphase formation in sodium‐ion batteries.

Hybrid Ionomer‐Free Porous Transport Electrodes With Catalyst Coated Membranes for Enhanced Water Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate how improved electrochemical performance during water electrolysis is achieved when a porous transport electrode (PTE) is coupled with a traditional catalyst coated membrane (CCM). Using operando neutron radiography, a more homogenous water distribution near the catalyst layer‐membrane interface is revealed in PTE‐based designs due to ...

Electrolyte Interfacial Reactivity Regulates Alloying Anode Pulverization

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Electrolyte interfacial reactivity governs the degradation of micrometer‐sized alloying anodes by dictating grain refinement and SEI growth. A high‐reactivity ester‐based electrolyte drives pulverization into fine nanoparticles encapsulated by a thick SEI, forming dense electrodes, whereas a low‐reactivity ether‐based electrolyte enables porous ...

Interfacial Electronic Modulation of Vacancy‐Stabilized Pt Sites in Mo‐NiSeO4/NiSe2 Heterostructures for Industrial Alkaline Water Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A vacancy‐stabilized Pt,Mo‐NiSeO4/NiSe2@Co2P heterostructure with atomically dispersed Pt sites and Mo‐regulated electronic structure enables efficient bifunctional water splitting. Strong interfacial coupling and defect‐assisted Pt stabilization promote rapid charge transfer and optimized intermediate adsorption, delivering outstanding HER/OER ...
