Bioinspired Hydrogels with Broadly Programmable Mechanics for Soft‐Tissue Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sea cucumber‐inspired gelatin hydrogels are formed by directional freezing and mechanically programmed through subsequent ionic treatment. Multiscale characterization and modeling link ion‐regulated chain interactions to directional load transfer within the aligned hierarchical architecture.

Evidence for Itinerant Ferromagnetic Flat Bands Producing Large Transverse Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Itinerant ferromagnetic flat bands are demonstrated in GdCo5 with a high Curie temperature of 940K, a stacked honeycomb–kagome lattice, through angle‐resolved photoemission spectroscopy and magneto‐thermoelectric measurements. These topological flat bands generate large Berry curvaturte, producing gigantic anomalous Nernst effect with record‐high ...

Trions as Fundamental Species in Chemically Doped Polymer Semiconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work shows that exciton–charge carrier coupling in doped polymer semiconductors gives rise to multi‐particle states, including trions—quasiparticles consisting of two holes and one electron under p‐doping—and bound exciton‐hole pairs, as identified through spectroscopic and theoretical analysis.

A comparison of design algorithms for choosing the training population in genomic models

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics
In contemporary breeding programs, typically genomic best linear unbiased prediction (gBLUP) models are employed to drive decisions on artificial selection. Experiments are performed to obtain responses on the units in the breeding program.

Electrocatalyst/Semiconductor Interfaces in Photoelectrocatalysts: Mechanistic Analysis of the Impact of Nanoparticle Electrocatalyst Coverage on Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Reducing Ni nanoparticle coverage on n‐Si photoanodes enhances photovoltage by promoting thicker interfacial SiOx formation during photoelectrochemical oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Experiments, analytical modeling, and finite‐element simulations reveal that coverage‐dependent chemical interface evolution, rather than geometric effects alone ...

Geopolymer Mix in Accordance to Design of Experiment (DOE) Method

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2020
Abstract This paper presents an experimental study conducted to assess the capability of using DOE method to achieve particular targeted strength for geopolymer concrete. Targeted strength of 30 MPa, 40 MPa and 60 MPa were used in this study. Cube samples with dimension of 100 mm were used for compressive strength test.
