Recording Studio Design Fundamentals
1992Regardless of scale, the requirements for successful studio operation are basically the same. A low-cost studio in the home environment deserves the same acoustical and technological considerations as a multichannel installation in a major metropolis if both are to successfully deliver useful services.

In most instances engineering design courses are offered during the senior year of the undergraduate curriculum. These senior level design courses allow the students to apply different engineering concepts to design a product, with the expectation of preparing engineering students for a distributed and global workplace.

Supporting design studio learning
Proceedings of the 1999 conference on Computer support for collaborative learning - CSCL '99, 1999Earlier studies suggest that benefits may be found in chat line communication rather than high bandwidth video-conferencing conditions when considering collaborative design learning. This paper draws together studies that look at this conjecture and concludes that chat line collaboration reduces fixation in problem space exploration.

The design studio is the prototype of design education, particularly for architects but more and more for engineers too – though engineers prefer the word “lab” to “studio.” Although the design studio is known today mainly through the “reflection in action” theory of Donald Schön (1984, 1988), this manner of education first developed at the École des ...
